Philosophy

Indigenous people throughout the world face threats to their ways of life, culture, language, land and water. I believe the best way to deal with the threats our communities face can only be found or developed by and implemented within those communities themselves. Indigenous peoples are highly diverse and discrete therefore each nation has individual needs. Some of the most effective ways, I believe, we can overcome these threats and meet the needs of our communities is through an array of community led and developed programs.

While a student and employee of the University of Wisconsin I developed the Indigenous Arts and Sciences Initiative  Since then I have been coordinating with several local Tribal communities to assist in developing locally appropriate activities and programs to engage Tribal members in environmental research and monitoring with-in their communities around topics such as; climate change, water stewardship, ecological restoration, sacred sites protection and Digital Storytelling. I have been providing professional development training and continuing education courses for K-12 teachers in communities as well as working directly in classrooms, informal learning facilities and tribal summer youth programs. If you would like more information about any of these projects please see my Projects and Gallery Pages.
